Kids
Start good oral health early
By teaching young children/babies good oral care early in life we are investing in their future self-esteem and overall long term health.
You can begin to teach young children the basics of good oral hygiene by setting an example and taking good care of your own oral health. Regular visits to the dentist, and also brushing you teeth along with your children is setting a good example that teaches children their teeth are very important and their oral health is something to be valued and looked after.
The science behind tooth decay and gum disease is much too complicated for young children to understand, so we at DJ Maguires Dentist have developed this section to help parents and carers bring the importance of good oral hygiene to a younger audience.

Have you met Tootsie yet?
Did you know that Tootsie the tooth fairy lives at DJ Maguire dental practice?
No?, well,
Tootsie packed up her sparkly wings and tutus and came to live in her new home to help us
to educate young people about the importance of good oral health. Tootsie has been really
busy decorating her new home and making her garden pretty, we have really enjoyed
coming into work each morning to see what she has added to her garden each day.
Each month we receive a new newsletter from Tootsie containing important oral health
instructions, dietary advice and some insight into her world and the top secret fairy
kingdom where she used to live. Tootsie especially loves coming home from work after
a hard night collecting teeth to read the lovely messages the children have left on her
magical wishing tree, she has even used some of the drawings to decorate inside her
house!
Our tooth fairy has settled into our dental practice really well and is delighted with the
response she has received from all of our patients. She will continue to provide us with
lots to talk and speculate about for a long time to come, questions like what does she
look like? or why can we not see her? or even what happens to the teeth she collects will
hopefully be answered by our little winged friend in one of her newsletters very soon.
